I’ve had the conversation with clients many times about the work of the organization in terms of sufficient  – that is, that the mission and good work of the organization should in some way be sufficient to ensure its success.
It’s an important step to take to acknowledge that merit and success are not the same thing – even in the wonderful world of philanthropy.Â
We begin work with every client with a presumption of merit – that is, we only work with clients in whose cause we can wholeheartedly believe, and whose cause we can actively support!Â
Our job is how to make the good work successful or more successful. We’re looking for strategies and implementation that supports the good work of programs – creating the structure that supports the merit, or more colorfully – creating the setting for the gem.
